Does the Keep Me Logged in Functionality Continue After Closing Browser Microsoft Azure
The 'new' updated version of Microsoft Edge is built on the Chromium project, as is Google Chrome. Thus, Edge and Chrome will share some similar behaviors going forward. (Firefox is not Chromium-based.)
tl;dr answer to your first question: That's the way it will be from now on.
You probably know that most websites that require you to login have a session timeout that varies from website to website. This means that if you are not active on the website for a certain amount of time, your session will end. When that happens, you'll need to log in again if you want to continue using the website.
This isn't mitigated by allowing cookies. In the first place, not all cookies remain on your hard drive after your session ends. But even for those cookies that remain, web browsers enforce strict privacy and security rules on website owners. The fact is, it's not secure to store a password in a cookie, or to otherwise maintain a secure session after it has timed out, even though this was done in the past. Once your session has ended, you need to log in again.
The fast and secure way to log in to a website is with a password manager like LastPass (my own choice) or 1Password or Dashlane among other password managers.
I can't answer your second question because I don't store my credentials in my web browser. A third-party password manager is more secure.
I also can't answer your third question, because I don't have a problem logging in to my Microsoft account (or anywhere else) with Microsoft Edge.

Hmm, well that's inconvenient. I'm aware that if you don't log in for a long time the session will end, but this is happening every time I quit the app. So I may have only been logged in for 30 seconds, I quit the app and the session ends? That doesn't sound right to me.
With Chrome it only happens with YouTube, I think my Google account is messed up on Chrome, but I've tried it with GOG just now and signing in then quitting the app straight away didn't sign me out when I rebooted the app.
This leads me to believe that it shouldn't be happening with Edge, which it is, meaning it's something that needs fixing and not an intended feature.

Hey, I have similar problems - although not quite the same.
1. I get logged out of everything constantly. Not every time I close the browser, but about every other day.
2. I am logged in on the Edge browser, seemingly without any issues.
3. EVERYTIME I turn on my pc's, I get a weird window from Microsoft asking me to login. If I log in, nothing seems to happen. If I don't log in, nothing seems to happen. No matter the choice, I'm still logged into my team account and on the edge browser.
I came here because it is such a big inconvenience to be logged out of everything every other day.

Two bugs causing problems with retaining log-in data that emerged in mid-2020 were fixed by patches to Edge in October and to Windows 10 in February 2021. Users experiencing similar problems since then have in every case that I know of found that they were caused by third-party security software, e.g. an anti-virus application. Any user in this situation should uninstall (not just disable) any such software, including browser extensions, to find out whether this could be the cause.
If this doesn't help, please use the Ask a question button at the top of every page at this site to start a new thread about this particular problem. Be sure to give full details of the versions of Windows and Edge involved and of the apps and sites that are not remembering log-in data. If there's an error message, please quote it verbatim or post a screenshot of it.
